A Year of Impact Across North Carolina


What a remarkable year it has been for SparkNC and the students we serve across North Carolina. From innovative SparkLab experiences and collaborations to a statewide, learner-centered conference this summer, SparkNC's interdistrict network of learners and leaders are discovering new possibilities for their futures and their communities.


Together with educators, partners, and supporters, SparkNC helps Spark Scholars build real-world relevant skills, find their voice and imagine what’s next. Demo Days, hackathons, app showcases, team-based internships and hands-on, collaborative learning in SparkLabs are just some of the options learners can choose from to meet their own goals and earn high school computer science credit. Here are some highlights of our year. They tell a powerful story of what’s possible when students have choice, autonomy, supports and the tools to thrive. We couldn't do it without you.

Public Sector Innovation


SparkNC received the North Carolina Technology Association (NC TECH) Award for Public Sector Innovation, and we couldn’t be more proud to celebrate this achievement with our incredible partners, educators and students across North Carolina.


This award reflects the bold work happening in our districts, the creativity of our Spark Scholars, and the dedication of leaders who believe in reimagining what school can be. Innovation in the public sector takes courage and collaboration—and we are grateful to be surrounded by a community that brings both every day.
